Shadow of the Colossus

SCEI

PS2

Body

-INTRO
Ico's sequel.
-GRAPHICS(Tech)
The game loads up a spell that allows your shitty PS2 to do miracles. Maybe the best drawing distance ever seen in gaming.
-GRAPHIC(Art)
Forbidden Land and Colossi are like really good dreams.
-AMBIENCE
Nice score and nice silences. Maybe a bit Disney-like during fights and the mixing of the tracks is not perfect at times.
-CONTROLS
Works for the most but the camera is painful, spoiling (at least at the beginning) part of the exploring experience.

Mind

-CONCEPT EXECUTION
Fumito Ueda is there in the Phanteon.
-LEVEL DESIGN
The world is vast & realistic, a pleasure in finding the next Colossus, killing and repeating. But there is no more to do in such a place. A waste? Retro design in new products? Genius & madness? A thin red line?
-PUZZLE DESIGN
N/A
-FIGHTING SYSTEM
Oh the pain & the pleasure with every new foe.
-MAGIC SYSTEM
N/A
-DEBUGGING
The occasional slowdown reminds you you're not there.

Soul

-ORIGINALITY & INNOVATION
16 gods
I and a horse to final love, oh
wonderfull weirdness!
-STORY
Basically happens just at the beginning and the end. Could seem shallow at first but reach completion my friend, and you will know too...
-ATMOSPHERE
Alone in the unknown
an ancient sun in my eyes
Oh, the dream is alive!
-ARTISTIC VALUE
Brother!
You that bring the final produce!
Thy name is their shame.
-PURE GAMING FUN
It's there! Behind the dream! Pleasure & pain , my friends, pleasure & pain!

Extra info

-MULTIPLAYER
Fuck it.
-ONLINE
Fuck it.
-HOURS TO COMPLETION
10
-PLAYER CUSTOMISATION
Fuck it.
-EXTENDED & REPLAY VALUE
Time attack and hard setting are good excuses.

Final Score

Gloria in excelsis ludus.
